Space Research Within Reach (SRWR) is a private company that provides end-to-end services to propose, design, and implement biological, biomedical, and biotechnological space research with the potential for commercialization.
Our core team has spent over two decades working for space agencies (NASA Ames Research Center, NASA Johnson Space Center, and Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales), academia (University of California San Francisco, Oak Ridge Associated Universities, University of Houston, and the University of Texas Medical Branch), industry (Lockheed Martin, Wyle, and KBR), and non-profit (Blue Marble Space Institute for Science) in the fields of astrobiology, planetary protection, space biology, human spaceflight, and space technology.
Space Research With Reach specializes in space life science research and designing and developing space flight hardware to support in situ analysis. The company is a full-service turn-key organization for implementing flight projects. Moreover, the company can successfully guide novice and experienced academic researchers, institutions, and commercial companies through the process of conducting life science research onboard spacecraft and the International Space Station (ISS).

Dr. Fathi Karouia, Space Research Within Reach LLC, Founder and Owner.
Tunisian born and raised in France (Champagne), Dr. Fathi Karouia is a creative researcher, a leader of complex engagements, and an entrepreneur with a unique set of skills and expertise in all areas related to Human Spaceflight, Space Biology, and Space Technology. Throughout his career, Fathi has spearheaded numerous scientific initiatives, developed new research technologies, driven business development effort, and managed high-profile cross-functional research programs with national and international research institutions, government agencies, and companies. With a creative mindset and superb problem-solving skills, Fathi has demonstrated success in fostering scientific and technological breakthrough in medicine, and a track record of achieving research objectives of strategic importance.
Dr. Karouia has a multidisciplinary educational background that covers all research topics associated with space science. He received a bachelor degree in physics and chemistry and a Master degree in Physics from Henri Poincare University, a Master Degree in Applied Space Technologies from Louis Pasteur University, a Master Degree in Space Studies from the International Space University, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Biology from the University of Houston.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Karouia has gained extensive experience proposing, collaborating, conducting, and overseeing R&D with NASA (Ames Research Center and Johnson Space Center), academia (e.g., University of California San Francisco, California Institute of Technology, Weill Cornell Medicine), the aerospace industry (e.g., Bioserve Space Technologies, Techshot, Lockheed Martin), and international partners (e.g., ESA and JAXA).
